2005 Recapped
I'm usually good about my new year's post, a synopsis of the previous year, reflections upon the year, and a laundry list of hopes and goals for the upcoming year. But, something has been holding me back from writing this year's post. Something tells me that I loathe to recap 2005.
Don't get me wrong, 2005 wasn't particularly bad, but it wasn't particularly good either. I might have preferred it if 2005 we bad -- at least I would have grown or been stretched. No, 2005 was a scary year because it was an uneventful year. If you think about it, life is too short to have an entire year when nothing really happens.
Time passed by in 2005 before I was ready for it to. I half jokingly recounted to friends that I never really got out of January mode. Each month passed, and I wondered to myself, what have I accomplished?
In all honesty, I don't think I accomplished too much. Ok, quick run down of high moments in the years...
February: Performed in the 28th Opening Ceremonies of Viennese Ball
July: Became Trinh's godmother
October: Climbed to the top of Halfdome
November: Cooked Thanksgiving dinner, bird and all
The more interesting stories of 2005 are the relationships I formed and the time spent with friends and loved ones. Without those, 2005 would have been a COMPLETE waste. It's amazing how close you can become to someone in a short amount of time or what human closeness can help you through. It's been quite a journey, guys...you know who you are. Thank you, for saving the year.
I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined
I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned
Staring at the blank page before you, open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
Oh, Oh
I break tradition, sometimes my tries, are outside the lines (yeah yeah)
We've been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can't live that way (oh oh)
Staring at the blank page before you, open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
Staring at the blank page before you, open up the dirty window
