I Feel It In My Fingers, I Feel It In My Toes...
It's like a war of attrition. It started with my high school friends, but I dismissed it because they were southern. Then it caught on among some co-workers, but I dismissed it because they were older. And now, it's taking out my friends, one and sometimes two at a time. And the only way I could dismiss it is by telling myself they're crazy, but of course I know they're not, they're just happy.
Marriage. It's everywhere! Proposals, engagements, registries, invitations, weddings, honeymoons, so much activity, so much to talk about!! So much excitement!! Amidst all the good, there has been one unfortunately side effect -- I've gone a little crazy.
Anyone who knows me knows that I couldn't be further from getting married, but sometimes I feel like I'm missing out on all the fun. I mean, there are some really fun parts to a wedding!! For example, I can't WAIT to register. I've already picked out my places: Williams Sonoma, Crate and Barrel, and per Will's encouragement, Le Crueset. Man Will, that was BRILLIANT!!
Another sign that I'm going a little nuts is that when I meet someone new, I've started to look at their hands to see if there's a ring. To date, I have not yet done anything with this information, but who knows, one day I may have to look for rings to see which guys I can hit on and which I can't. Hopefully, I will be happily off the market before that day comes.
Speaking of rings, I picked on an engagement ring for myself. Hehe, NUTS, I know. But I promise, this all came about quite innocuously. You see, I was at Howard's place after dinner a few weeks ago, and I was flipping through one of his magazines and came across an eye-catching jewelry ad from Teno. The ad was for a variety of pieces, rings, necklaces, watches, but it caught my eye because the designs were all very clean and sharp. I made a mental note to check out their website when I had some time.
A few nights after my dinner with Howard, I visited the Teno website, and discovered the concept of a tension-set ring. Tension settings have the following advantages to traditional four-prong stone settings:
- Greater longevity
- Safer stone
- Greater visibility of stone
After learning more about tension set rings, I wondered if it would be possible to get engagement rings on a tension setting. After very minimal browsing, I stumbled upon a design that was almost an exact implement of what I had imagined to be the perfect design for me.
Check out the RING.
Isn't the ring super cute?? The nicest feature of this ring is that it's not likely to snag on things, which is the most common problem with typical solitaires.
So, my dilemma after finding this ring was: Do I tell my friends about the ring, increasing the likelihood that some future boyfriend will propose to me with this ring, but perhaps causing my friends to think that I'm insane, or do I keep quiet about this great find? Well, since my friends already think I'm a little nuts anyways, I might as well tell you all which ring I want, so tht you can assist my future bf pick out the right ring.
I feel it in my fingers
I feel it in my toes
Love is all around me
And so the feeling grows
Its written on the wind
Its everywhere I go, oh yes it is
So if you really love me
Come on and let it show
You know I love you, I always will
My minds made up by the
Way that I feel
Theres no beginning,
Therell be no end
cause on my love you can depend
I see your face before me
As I lay on my bed
I kinda get to thinking
Of all the things you said, oh yes I did
You gave your promise to me and i
Gave mine to you
I need someone beside me
In everything I do, oh yes I do
You know I love you, I always will,
My minds made up by the
Way that I feel
Theres no beginning,
Therell be no end
cause on my love you can depend
Got to keep it moving
Oh its written in the wind
Oh everywhere I go, yeah, oh well
So if you really love me, love me, love me
Come on and let it show
Come on and let it show
Come on and let it
Come on and let it (come and let it show, baby)
Come on, come on, come on let it show baby
Come on and let it show
Come on and let it show, baby
Come on and let it show
By bit (bit by bit, bit by bit)....
